So I step outside and I light a cigarette

Thinking where I’m at looks a lot like a Hollywood film set
In the middle of the thought I saw my special friend
Sitting, Ready
Waiting For me
Pick him up he
Is conforming
What’s this Feeling
Laying dormant
Here in this parking lot
Then a light came off of my face
And it was no longer my face

I was the woodlouse
The woodlouse was me

A mutual respect that
We both come in peace
And in good company, mutual telepathy
We both see the cadences
Communicating comic relief,
We sympathize with each other’s condition,
We sympathize that this could all be fiction,
His big black eyes are beading in my head,
We joke that we might both be dead

Then a light came off of my face
And it was no longer my face

Now I can roll up into a cool ball
He laughed and said he couldn’t wait to tell his friends
Put me down if you’d like or we can just hang out
I’ll never look at a roly poly the same again
